About Andrea Wan

Andrea Wan is a Hong Kong-born, Vancouver-raised visual artist and illustrator. After completing her studies in Integrated Media and Design at Emily Carr University and Designskolen Kolding in Denmark, she moved to Berlin, where she focused on studio work and continued traveling for mural projects. Andrea perceives her practice as a vessel for her stream of consciousness, expressed through mediums like ink on paper, murals, print, and sculptures. Inspired by illustrated European fables and Chinese folklores she had read as a child, her art evokes various narratives that serve as a portal into her inner world. Exploring themes of interconnectedness in nature and the human psyche, her work has graced gallery spaces and murals spanning Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia. Having relocated back to Vancouver, BC in 2019, Andrea's creative journey continues to shed light on cultural diversity and the intangibility of the human experience.

This mural signifies a kind of homecoming - a remembrance of the earth and those who have given the artist life. It’s also a reminder to give back and continue nurturing our land and our families.
