About Ed Drahanchuk

During the 1960s and 1970s Ed Drahanchuk was celebrated as one of Canada’s leading ceramists. His large-scale ceramic sculptures and wall murals won him the prestigious Allied Arts Medal from the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada in 1974. Born in Calgary, Drahanchuk graduated from the Alberta College of Art and Design in 1963, specializing in ceramics. His ceramic work mainly utilized stoneware, and his work embraced the rough, organic aesthetic of the period.
