Look at the centre of this sculpture: do you see the Earth? Known as an armillary sphere or armillary sundial, this work is a model of the celestial globe, centred on the Earth.

The artist who made this work describes it as 'a teaching tool to explain the movement of the sun and the construction of time.' Surrounded by benches that represent each of the four seasons, this installation encourages the viewer to think about growing cycles and the passage of time. This sphere was a gift to the people of Calgary from the Calgary Horticultural Society in celebration of its 100th anniversary in 2008.
Freely accessible to Zoo visitors once park admission is paid. Near the Devonian Conservatory.
