Welcome to Dale Hodges Park, a 40 hectare artwork, park, and stormwater treatment facility. A former gravel pit, the land was ecologically restored while addressing the flow of untreated stormwater directly into the Bow River from 8 NW communities.

Unique to Calgary and one of the largest public artworks in North America, Dale Hodges Park was an innovative project of the Public Art program Watershed+. As Lead Artists for Watershed+, Sans façon developed this work in collaboration with many subject matter experts including Source2Source, AECOM, O2 Planning + Design, and Wilco Contractors Southwest. Typically, stormwater's source, route, and where it goes are either unapparent or largely invisible in our cities while stormwater ponds are often considered an inconvenient infrastructure necessity. Here at Dale Hodges Park, stormwater was drawn to the surface and viewed as an opportunity to create a unique park and provide valuable habitats. You can follow the journey of stormwater throughout the park which adapts to varying storm events and intensities to accommodate the dynamics of our environment rather than fighting them. Dale Hodges Park invites visitors to contemplate a process in constant flux and expands the possibilities of connection and appreciation of the complexities of our urban and natural watersheds.
