About the work

Rising into the sky, it is impossible not to feel the presence of the sculptural landforms. The mounds physically define this place, drawing us to them by their sheer presence, making us aware of the vastness of this site. The core-ten steel sculptures seem to be timeless in age, their massive forms highlighting the significance of this wetland location to our city and our environment.

"The monoliths...are meant to herald the uniqueness of the wetlands...(and) offer a place for reflection and contemplative thought..." - Beverly Pepper
