In Mandala Reflections, we recognize that each intricate design reflects not just the beauty of its creator, but the piece as a whole deeper essence of our shared human experience.

This artwork was a journey of introspection and creativity, inspired by the beauty of mandalas and their profound symbolism. Traditionally, mandalas are seen as a representation of the ideal universe - unity, harmony, and the interconnectedness of all things. In my Mandalas workshop, the mandalas created are a representation of the creator’s inner world; each line a symbol of all the different paths one can take in life.
Through intricate patterns and vibrant colours that mimic the Bow River, Mandala Reflections invites us to pause, reflect, and find moments of peace in our busy lives. Each of the patterned waves carries the expression and energy of the individual who painted it.
In February 2024, I invited the community to participate in my Mandalas workshops at the Bridgeland Community center, where they picked a random, uniquely shaped piece and bravely trusted in my process. Before each session, I led participants through a meditation to enhance their creative journey. Over 85 people who live, work, and play in Bridgeland, participated in the making of this piece - thank you. Seeing all the pieces come together, each wave painted with such care and individuality, was deeply moving.
When we look at the ocean, we see that each wave has a beginning and an end. A wave can be compared with other waves, and we can call it more or less beautiful, higher or lower, longer lasting, or less long lasting. But if we look more deeply, we see that a wave is made of water. While living the life of a wave, it also lives the life of water. Thich Nhat Hanh
In Mandala Reflections, we celebrate the essence of this wisdom—recognizing that each intricate design reflects not just the beauty of its creator, but the piece as a whole deeper essence of our shared human experience. These are not merely designs; they are reflections of our journeys, our emotions, and our connections with one another. This installation embodies the spirit of the vibrant and dynamic neighbourhood of Bridgeland - aiming to engage and inspire those who encounter it, fostering a sense of community, introspection, and appreciation for the intricate tapestry of our lives. My hope is that those who pass by this piece find a moment of pause, curiosity, or even quiet connection, however it speaks to them.
