The Others

Even though this sculpture is abstract, its astronomical references are deliberate. This work was designed to be located outside the one-time home of Calgary's planetarium and science centre. The science centre has since moved, but this sculpture remains in place as a reminder of the original use of the architecturally distinct building. Although he is widely recognized for the public artworks he created in Québec, Spanish-born artist Jordi Bonet created this work specifically for Calgary. "The Others" was commissioned by the Calgary and District Dental Association and given to the City of Calgary in 1967 to mark Canada's 100th anniversary.
