Commissioned by CMLC, Touch Traces by Calgary artist Cassie Suche is a temporary mural installation along RiverWalk. Featuring abstract patterns made from over 640 fingerprints collected from East Village residents, the work explores themes of identity, connection, and community in motion.
Installed along the Jack & Jean Leslie RiverWalk, Touch Traces by Calgary artist Cassie Suche is the fifth temporary installation commissioned through Calgary Municipal Land Corporation’s (CMLC) Art in the Public Realm program. Unveiled in 2022 and on display until 2025, the work features abstract patterns created from over 640 fingerprints gathered from East Village residents.
Layered into flowing, organic compositions that echo the nearby river, these prints symbolize the individuality of each participant and the shared connections that define community life. Through its tactile and collaborative approach, Touch Traces invites viewers to reflect on how personal stories and collective identity leave lasting impressions.
