Approaching from another angle or taking a closer look can enlighten, revealing strange ideas and new beauty.

These spray painted murals were part of the Street Art Program for Youth and can be found in the pedestrian underpass at Confederation park. The corrugated steel surface of the tunnel has a distortive effect on images - the 'scenes' from the park reveal themselves only at certain angles, otherwise they are rendered as abstract bursts of colour. Up close, rosehips can seem alien as asteroids (or giant meatballs, as one young passerby quipped). These views of the park are intended to encourage us all to pay close attention to the world around us, and to take a few steps back every once in a while to gain some perspective.
