About the work

This mural explores the dual nature of being human — the beauty and the hardship that come with simply existing in the world. It’s a reflection on the emotional and spiritual journey we all go through as we face challenges, collect scars, and still find ways to grow.

The contrast between the dark background and the vibrant figures speaks to this tension — between struggle and transformation. The main figure is blooming, wrapped in an armour made of flowers and butterfly wings. This armour represents the ways we protect ourselves through life, but also symbolizes change and renewal.

In their hands, the figure holds a reflection of their younger self — a child, eyes closed, unguarded, and glowing with possibility. This is a reminder that no matter what life throws at us, that core self — our innocence, our potential — is always there. The armour we build isn’t meant to hide us forever, but eventually falls away, bringing us back to who we truly are.

This piece invites viewers to pause and reflect — to remember that even through pain and growth, we’re always returning to a deeper sense of wholeness. Trust the process of life. Everything will be okay.
