Olympic Arch

Colette Whiten, Paul Kipps, Jack Diamond & Associates

This arch formed the entrance to the Athlete’s Village during the 1988 Winter Olympics, and was returned to the U of C in 1991 to celebrate the University’s 25th anniversary.

About this work

This work was also called Gateway to the Olympic Village, and Trans-Canada Pipeline Arch, because it was commissioned by Trans-Canada Pipelines. This arch formed the entrance to the Athlete’s Village during the 1988 Winter Olympics, after which it was temporarily moved to the Calgary Municipal Building. It was returned to the U of C in 1991 to celebrate the University’s 25th anniversary.
