About this work

For his first BUMP mural he brings to the Beltline a concept that originated in Paris, where Stuart observed the similarities between summers in France and Canada. His appreciation for these summers and the reminder of Calgary's long winters and strong work ethic inspired him to celebrate the city's summer spirit, keeping in mind that summer serves as a crucial escape for the mental health and well-being of Calgarians during the winter. Stuart's goal was to create a graphic representation of the local seasonal cycle, akin to an ice sample or tree rings. Through colors and patterns, the mural transitions from the colder winter and early spring to the brief but warm summer months, and then back to winter. The design aims to make the alley more inviting and hospitable, offering several visual points of interest and brightening the previously dark space.
